Teaching Interests/Courses: Laura is thrilled to be at Langara teaching Introductory Psychology, several courses in Developmental Psychology (Infant, Child, Adolescence, and Older Adulthood), and the Psychology of Human Animal Relationships. Prior to joining Langara, she taught psychology and interdisciplinary research at other postsecondary institutions for over a decade.
Academic Interests: Laura’s current research explores public attitudes toward Vancouver’s urban crows. Vancouverites have surprisingly positive views of crows despite reporting conflicts such as dive-bombing! Future research will further examine human and crow relationships and behaviour.
Her graduate research focused on orangutan cognition, perception, and social learning, including fieldwork in Indonesian Borneo, and touchscreen and perceptual research that served as enrichment for the orangutans at the Toronto Zoo. In addition, she has completed research projects on memory in older adults and child cognition.
Other: Laura loves spending time with her family and friends, baking, cycling, cross country skiing, and enjoying Vancouver’s beautiful beaches and parks.
